An Opportunity for OBs: Entrepreneurs in Residence at Berkhamsted 6th

The School is introducing an 'Entrepreneurs in Residence' in the new Zaha Hadid building. This will give OBs an opportunity to have a free work space in the heart of the town, and close to the railway station.

In designing the building, the aim was to create space where pupils would be able to see real work, and where those that already work on their own business would be able to find quiet, grown up, appropriately appointed, space in which to do so.

The EiR programme is designed to advantage OBs who would prefer to start their own business after school or university, or after time working for others. The intention is to create a supportive network around EiR’s - as well as free working space, they will have access to members of our community who have VC, legal and accounting expertise around start-ups, to mentoring and to other help from parents of current pupils and from other OBs. In exchange for this space and network, the School asks for only up to one hour per week of time with current pupils – helping them with their businesses, advertising entrepreneurship to pupils through the careers programme, or mentoring/coaching.

The space created for EiRs is in the heart of the building. Meeting rooms around it are available for booking, and there is a café within the building, too.
