Snazzy!

Chloe Champken (OB, Reeves 2017) will direct Snazzy, a new play about the origins of the Snazaroo face-painting brand, premiering this July at the New York Theatre Festival.

Written by British actor-producer Joe Staton, Snazzy tells the true story of the brand’s founding by Staton’s parents at a Butlins holiday park in Somerset in the 1980s, tracing its growth from a small creative venture into a globally recognised name.

Champken previously directed Floyd Toulet’s Knock Knock at the festival in 2023, as well as The Rainmaker, and most recently co-directed RiffRaff NYC’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She and Staton are members of the Ensemble Shakespeare Company and will perform this summer in Julius Caesar at The Flea Theatre in New York. Chloe also co-founded the British theatre company Crowded Space with Michael Reid.

Chloe trained at the Stella Adler Studio in New York and Trinity Laban in London.
