School News |
I write with the exciting news, that work on the new Berkhamsted Sixth building has begun this week (10 March 2022). The new building will be built on the corner of the school’s site next to the Tesco car park, replacing the metal-roofed Maintenance Department workshops, Cox’s Bungalow Drama Studio and Wilson House. When completed, it will be accessed from Mill Street by students, as a site separate to the rest of the Castle campus, so that boys and girls will enter a new Sixth Form environment when they join it. It will also have its own landscaped quad.
The contractors, Beard Construction LTD, will have an office within the site compound, which will be accessible from Tesco Car Park. Hoarding will be installed around the compound in the early stages of the build, containing a Perspex window, providing an opportunity to view the construction progress from that public space. In addition you will be able to follow the development of the build on our website: Berkhamsted Sixth Form where we will provide updates.
We expect to open the new Sixth Centre in the Autumn of 2023. I am sure that we will all watch the new building rise out of the ground in the coming months with anticipation! Until then if you would like to find out more about the vision for the building, see below.
Kind regards
Richard Backhouse
