What happens when young people are encouraged to make the most of every opportunity?
Old Berkhamstedian Dan Katsande left Berkhamsted Sixth in 2024 with a Vice Chancellor’s Art Scholarship to Durham University. Two years on, he reflects on how the opportunities he embraced at Berkhamsted helped build the confidence and skills he is using today.
From playing 1st XI sport and performing in school productions to serving as Deputy Head Boy and joining the wellbeing committee, Dan made the most of life beyond the classroom.
Now, after completing an eight-week internship with consulting firm Baringa and securing a return offer for after university, he reflects on where that confidence began.
“Now I realise I can go for stuff that seems slightly out of what I think I’m able to do, but the school builds that confidence in you.”
