On Saturday 23rd March, the Old Berkhamstedians Football Club had their annual match with the current school 1st XI.
The OBs had assembled a very talented squad capable of avenging the thrilling 5-6 loss in the 2023 fixture. There was a great array experience in the team ranging from 190-cap, club veteran Alex Stewart (2008 leaver) to three debutants in Joe Hubbard, Matt Foster (both 2022 leavers) and Jack Chapples (2020 leaver).
After a bitterly cold and wet 1st Half the OBs came in 1-0 up at the break thanks to a fantastic debut goal for Joe Hubbard. Much brighter weather in the second half was mirrored by a brilliant performance for the OBs with a late flurry of goals resulting in a 3-1 victory, their first win since 2018.
Many thanks to Vicky Rees, Sarah Cox and 1st team coach Mr Vila for organising a great day to help continue the connection between the school and Old Berkhamstedians FC.
