Old Girls Retain the Tucker Cup!

OLD GIRLS TENNIS MATCH vs THE SCHOOL

We are delighted to report that, after two years of Covid-cancelled matches, we were able to resurrect our annual Old Girls Ladies Tennis Match vs the School on Friday 29th April. We enjoyed dry weather and a great turnout.

Huge thanks to Jo Vila (née Lupton) (Burgh '02) and Emma Turner (Churchill '09) for making sure that we got this event back up and running, and to Caroline Spooner (née Kingston) (Holme '91) for ensuring that a lovely tea of sandwiches and scones was laid on courtside to sustain us.

Playing to the usual format, the School and Old Girls presented 6 pairs each, forming “A” and “B” teams of 3 pairs. We were delighted to welcome Emma Savage and Sofia Wise who represented the Old Girls for the first time (last time we played they represented the school!), Jo Hodge (née Bellamy) (Class of '94)  and Sarah Beaman (née Stoddart) (Holme '94) resurrected their partnership of old. Anna Loda (née Green) ('83) & Brigitta Case (née Norris) (New Stede '80), Natasha Hathaway (née Bottrill) (Burgh '89) & Caroline Spooner, Gillian Baxter (née Hewitt) ('81) & Tanya Hart (née Altman) (Burgh '81), Emma Turner, Jo Vila, Hilary Hartley (Hon) and Eleanor Keohane (née King) (School '90), made up our other pairings.

Several came to watch the match which resulted in an overall win for the Old Girls with a score of 12-5. Many thanks to all who played and special thanks to Sue Wolstenholme (Holme '58) for keeping the scores and for presenting the cup.
