The OB Sailing Club are looking to run a sailing weekend at the end of the summer, to tie in with the start of the Clipper Round the World Race which starts from Portsmouth on Sunday 31st August. This year’s race features one of our very own Old Berkhamstedians, Gav Rees, who will be skippering one of the Clipper boats on its 11 month voyage.

In order to give Gav the send off that he deserves, we have hired two charter boats from Gosport (home of Clipper). The plan would be to pick up the boats on the Friday (29th August) evening, sail during the day on Saturday (30th August), finishing up back in Portsmouth for the Saturday night for dinner and a party, before joining the Clipper yachts and other boats on the Sunday (31st August) as they start their epic voyage. (Race start time as of yet unknown)

The cost of this trip is subsidised by The Old Berkhamstedians and is just £160 per person, plus costs (share of fuel, mooring, food and drink)

This trip is open to all, regardless of experience. We always enjoy a diverse crew of ages, experience and backgrounds, so don’t worry if you haven’t been before and please reach out if you have any questions at all.
